RSS Feed and Comments - what is RSS and how to use it
News
has an RSS - 'Really Simple Syndication' - feed
which, when you subscribe (it's free), will enable
you to see when we have added new content, so you can
view the latest News in one place, as soon it is
published.
To use RSS, you will need a 'news reader' which
checks the feeds and lets you read any existing and
new items. There are many different versions, some
accessed using a web browser, such as Google Reader,
and some downloadable applications. However, Internet
Explorer 7, Firefox, Opera and Safari have built-in
news readers, which check for feeds when you visit
this site and display a blue RSS icon on the address
bar of your browser when they find one.
To subscribe, simply click the orange RSS button on
the left hand side of the News page. On the
right-hand side of the RSS page, under "Actions",
click 'add bookmark' to add Ledbury Civic Society to
your bookmark folder/menu and the number of new items
should appear on the bookmark and disappear after you
view them. Also, you can email a link to the RSS page
by clicking "Mail Link to this Page", which you will
also find under "Actions' on the right-hand side of
the RSS page. (If you have Apple iMac (OS Snow
Leopard), there's an RSS folder in Mail.)
The same applies to the Comments feed. When you
register and log-in, you can leave
comments.
