Website changes

We've tidied up the website. We've reduced the font size from 14pt to 12pt. If you'd like to view in a larger size then you can adjust the size using the zoom feature on your keyboard: to increase, it's Cntrl+ or to decrease, Cntrl- (Mac: Cmd+, or Cmd-)

On the
Burgage Hall and Butcher Row House Museum pages, we've included a map and directions for the whereabouts.

There are 4 new pages: under Projects, a selection of photos from the
2000 Millennium photo-album, and three for Ledbury History, Ledbury People and Ledbury Buildings. On each of those three, all you have to do is click on a title for what's inside, instead of having to load a new page for each topic. Also, we've removed content for that information from News so it's on permanent display.

From now on, News will be for just that and will be up-to-date, so old entries will be deleted.

Also, we've used the picture of High Street, the larger version is on the side-bar on the
Contact Us page, for a favicon in front of the website address.

RSS Feed and Comments - what is RSS and how to use it

News has an RSS - 'Really Simple Syndication' - feed which, when you subscribe (it's free), will enable you to see when we have added new content, so you can view the latest News in one place, as soon it is published.

To use RSS, you will need a 'news reader' which checks the feeds and lets you read any existing and new items. There are many different versions, some accessed using a web browser, such as Google Reader, and some downloadable applications. However, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, Opera and Safari have built-in news readers, which check for feeds when you visit this site and display a blue RSS icon on the address bar of your browser when they find one.

To subscribe, simply click the orange RSS button on the left hand side of the News page. On the right-hand side of the RSS page, under "Actions", click 'add bookmark' to add Ledbury Civic Society to your bookmark folder/menu and the number of new items should appear on the bookmark and disappear after you view them. Also, you can email a link to the RSS page by clicking "Mail Link to this Page", which you will also find under "Actions' on the right-hand side of the RSS page. (If you have Apple iMac (OS Snow Leopard), there's an RSS folder in Mail.)

The same applies to the Comments feed. When you register and log-in, you can leave comments.
