- how to find the Burgage Hall and Butcher Row House
Museum
The
Burgage Hall and the Butcher Row House folk museum's
whereabouts are fairly straightforward. Find the
Market House: it's a large black and white building on
stilts at the northern end of High Street (coloured
pink/red on the map above). (Nearby shops include CC,
The Baker's Oven, Ledbury News, HSBC Bank.) Standing
on the pavement with your back to Market House, face a
shop called Celebrations, which is one shop to the
left of The Baker's Oven, and around the corner is a
narrow cobbled street: that's Church Lane. (You're
heading the wrong way if you find yourself in the part
of Church Street that's marked on the map below.)
Walk up Church Lane towards the church spire and after a
few buildings along on the right hand side, just before you
reach the Prince of Wales pub on the left, you'll find an
iron gate and railings. Enter through the gate and in front
of you is Butcher Row House Museum. There's a large sign
outside. The entrance to Burgage Hall is alongside the
museum.
There are two public pay-and-display car parks off Bye
Street (which is at the corner of High Street and facing
the Market House). Also, free parking is permitted
alongside the Market House and elsewhere in High Street.
